Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics have finally unveiled the very first image of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, and it's a moment that feels historic for fans of the Tomb Raider franchise.

The 29-year-old actress is set to begin filming the new Tomb Raider series on January 19, with production heading straight into action for Amazon Prime Video. The image was shared with the hashtag #WardrobeTest, confirming that what we're seeing is an official costume test, and a nod to Lara's origins.
Back to the roots
What makes this reveal truly special is the outfit itself. Sophie Turner is the first actress ever to wear the classic Lara Croft look in live-action form — the original, most iconic design complete with the legendary round sunglasses.
A long road to Lara Croft
Sophie Turner began preparing for the role 11 months ago, dedicating nearly a year to transforming herself into the adventurer.
The creative team
The series is led by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner. She is joined by Chad Hodge as co-showrunner and executive producer. With this creative lineup and the backing of Amazon MGM Studios alongside Crystal Dynamics, expectations are understandably high.
