Lara Croft is accused of killing her mentor, Werner Von Croy, and becomes a fugitive in Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. As she unravels a tangled conspiracy, the game, initially divisive, has gained a loyal following. Players have explored its cut content, uncovering its hidden potential. The Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered collection restores much of the missing content, improving the experience with the help of Saber Interactive's developers.
Here are some highlights from the remastered version of Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness:
Enhanced Controls
As with other Remastered titles, players can choose between Tank and Modern control schemes for The Angel of Darkness.
The Modern controls make Lara's movements more fluid and intuitive, with a full 360-degree camera and new abilities like mid-air shooting and stealthy corner shots.
The Training Area of the Parisian Back Streets
A previously unfinished/hidden training area is now fully restored, allowing players to learn new abilities like the commando crawl which was never formally taught before.
You decide whether to use this new training option or stick to the original gameplay.
New Purchasable Items
In the original game, Lara could sell items for money, but it didn't serve much of a purpose outside of bribes.
Lara can now buy weapons and accessories like the Silencer and Lasersight from Rennes' Pawnshop, and healing items and poison antidotes from Willowtree Herbalist, adding a new layer of strategy.
Kurtis Trent's Powers
Kurtis returns with expanded psychic abilities, including control over his Chirugai weapon (a discus-like blade) and a psychic shield for boss battles. His gameplay now contrasts with Lara's more agile style, offering a slower, more deliberate experience.
Restored Voice Lines, Notebook Entries, and Inventory Items
Several voice lines from Lara and Kurtis have been restored, adding more context to the narrative and offering additional hints to guide players through the game.
Werner Von Croy’s Notebook, which was easy to overlook in the original release, now automatically opens the first time Lara wakes up in the abandoned railway carriage.
This notebook contains vital story and puzzle-related information, with new entries being added as the adventure unfolds.
Some inventory items have also been reinstated, including Von Croy's cane.
These are just a few examples of the content restored in Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Remastered. To uncover even more, join Lara in her darkest adventure when Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered releases on February 14th.
